Have you written out your New Year’s resolutions for 2021?
I’m here to recommend that you add public speaking to that list.
Yes, I know. Public speaking is a high anxiety skill to work on but an incredibly rewarding and confidence building skill too.
2020 taught us that strong communication skills are critical to anyone that holds a leadership role in any industry, and especially during times of crisis. A person with exceptional communication skills stands out in any field, industry, career, and entrepreneurial path. Clear, articulate, and intentional communication conveys trust, competence, and authority.
If you’ve wanted to improve your communication skills but have not made the commitment, 2021 is an excellent year to work on this skill with dedication. And I can help you.
Why commit this year, you ask? Well, your voice matters and it is needed now more than ever.
2021 is an excellent year to redefine who we are and what we do moving forward. The pandemic, the shutdown, the global death toll, and the many personal challenges we’ve all faced this year have changed us and changed the nation.
We have the opportunity to use our voice to advocate for things that matter to us and our communities. To share our interests, passions, skills, and expertise with like-minded people. Since the pandemic is not over, people can’t meet in person safely so they are looking to virtual networks and social media to connect with people that share their interests. Others are looking to connect with people with different lived experiences to learn from and to expand their understanding of the world.
My recommendation to add public speaking to your New Year’s resolutions list is for anybody who’s wanted to share their story, experience, passion, interests, or ideas. It goes out to youth who plan to mobilize for any type of justice, to the retiring woman or man who doesn’t know what to do with their spare time but has knowledge to impart. AND, to any expert with a unique expertise that a common person would not know about unless they received years of training.
This year of virtual connection offers you the opportunity to not concern yourself with the anxiety of in-person public speaking and gives you the time to practice content development and delivery from the comfort of your home.
So, add it to your resolutions list and follow me so that I can help you embrace this impactful skill.
